Pidgen Music has released a remix of Ghana Music Awards’ most popular song of the year.
The original kologo acoustic version of King Ayisoba’s ‘I want to see my father’ caught on across the country dominating charts amidst rave reviews in the press.
The novelty of a song played with just one traditional instrument that swept away the most popular song of the year award is what probably endeared King Ayisoba to lots of fans.
The remix, which features the ‘kangarooman’, Tic Tac and Kweku T, comes with a penetrating bass line and a heavy adowa-like kick underlined by King Ayisoba’s traditional kologo instrument.
Tic Tac and Kweku T have added more meaning to the song in this remix with their respective rap styles and lyrics.
The song talks about an irresponsible father who spends money on a girlfriend and cares less about his kids. The single has an accapella version of ‘I want to see my father’ and ‘champion’ as well as an intrumental version of the remix.
Batman Samini featured on the champion song, which is an expression of how difficult it is to be a champion.
Fans of King Ayisoba are keeping their fingers crossed for his performance at the next Kora Awards in South Africa.
Performing at Kora is part of the award package for artists who win in the most popular song of the year category of Ghana Music Awards.
The remix couldn’t have come at a better time as the kologo magic grooves the world.
