Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Eastern Regional Minister, on Wednesday donated items valued at about GHC 3,000 to the Akropong School for the Blind.
The items include 30 bunches of plantain harvested from his garden at his residence in Koforidua, 50 crates of eggs, five bags of beans, 200 pieces of sleeping mats and 100 blankets.
Making the presentation, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo indicated that the school would be one of his priorities.
He gave the assurance that the government would construct a two-storey building to solve the classroom and other accommodation problems of the school.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said construction work on a GHC 300, 000 project, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) in the school would soon begin.
He said the President was concerned about the welfare of the physically challenged persons hence the government's decision to provide the necessary facilities to the school.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the headmistress, Ms Mahela Narh, commended the Regional Minister for the kind gesture and appealed to individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations to go to their aid.
The Akuapem North District Chief Executive, Mr George Opare-Addo, promised to provide roofing sheets to re-roof the leaking boys' dormitory.
