Krachi Senior High School (KRASEC) became the centre of attraction when old students, parents, board governors and well wishers turned out in their numbers to launch the 40th anniversary of the school. The launch was preceded by spell-binding drills by the school’s newly formed police cadet, and punctuated with equally breathtaking dances by the school’s drama ensemble and the melodious tunes of the school’s choir. Krachi Senior High School was established in 1971 but it was in 2004 that in the school really attained the befitting status of a senior high school following its selection to benefit from the Model School Project by the NPP Government. The assumption of office of Musah Yambah, the incumbent headmaster of the school has also brought about a lot of development in the school. He engineered the establishment of a cadet and a band, initiated the composition of a school anthem and a lot of programmes and projects which have boosted the morale of teachers and students. It is little wonder therefore that the students refer to him as “The Messiah” in addition to his nickname, Igwe. The Paramount Chief of the Krachi Traditional Area, Nana Mprah Besemuna, who chaired the function and launched the anniversary called on all old students of KRASEC to be proud of their alma mater and help the school in whatever way they could. “I’m very glad the old students have assumed a central role in this celebration. Despite our difficult situation, we’ve been able to produce lawyers, judges, prominent politicians, journalists among others. We should be able to look anybody in the eye and say I attended KRASEC,” he told the tightly packed audience at the assembly hall. Nana Mprah Besemuna, who is also the Board Chairman of the school reminded students and teachers of the school that the gains made in recent years in the school could only be maintained and improved upon if there was discipline on the part of all. “Krasec is the best asset we have and will not allow anybody to come and destroy the school for us. Discipline is very difficult to enforce but those who benefit from it will always remember it,” Nana Mprah noted. He paid tribute to headmaster Musah Yamba, for the numerous achievements he had chalked within one year of his assumption of office.
