Young Ghanaian female flight engineer, Patricia Mawuli Nyekudzi says she wants to compete at premier aviation sport, the World Aerobatic Championships.
The championship is male-dominated and expensive, but Patricia says she will breakthrough.
She was speaking to Joy News at an air show at the Kpong airfield.
That was the fifth show hosted at the base with planes built at the centre. This year’s show seemed special as it celebrated the achievement of Patricia, 22, who built a light aircraft and flew it across the country in three days.
Patricia built the ultra light plane with support from Expresso and fellow students at the Aviation Technical Academy at Kpong.
Her flight across the country drew crowds to this year’s show and already, she is motivating young female students to dare to dream. Pupils came from as far as Techiman to attend the show.
Patricia told Joy News she is humbled by her feat and is already dreaming bigger:
Her trainer, Flight Captain Yaw told Joy News Patricia has made ‘history in black history.’
