TJ Deen is a name many will not be familiar with in the Ghanaian music industry but in Togo where he was born, he was a force in that country’s industry in the year 2005. Born Tajudeen Alhassan Igodo, TJ Deen told Myjoyonline.com that he started full time music in the year 2000 and in his quest to attain success, he, together with two other friends formed the Black Strangers in 2005. The group managed to release an album, Agbemenya that same year which instantly shot the trio into fame in Togo. That hard work was rewarded with the Best Traditional Video Award, at the 2005 Togo Hiphop Music Awards. Hit with challenges, the group couldn’t stand the test of time and had to split but with a quest to explore further horizons and also further his education, TJ Deen left Togo to Ghana. He subsequently pursued an English proficiency course at the Ghana Institute of Languages, completing in 2007. Born with a passion for music, he once again helped put together the group Footprints in Ghana in 2008. Footprints, made up of three young guys, recorded three tracks with Infectious, a recording engineer, who was working with Audio Farm Studios managed by Quata. TJ Deen was yet unsatisfied with what he had achieved, he decided to go solo in the year 2010. That was the same time Infectious all decided to part ways with Quata’s studio. Infectious wanted to make an instant statement in the Ghanaian music landscape. He started working on a compilation project dubbed New Order. Convinced of TJ Deen' talent, Infectious decided to feature him on the compilation, leading to the recording of the track, Brush ur teeth with a 'Brush your teeth' dance formation. Infectious subsequently decided to sign him on to his Synipers Entertainment label. He explained that after several years of doing music, he wanted to contribute his quota to society thus the song Brush your teeth to educate and encourage the general populace on the need for oral hygiene. “I have a lot to deliver…I have travelled and seen a lot and I believe that I can bring something new and also leave a mark in the Ghanaian music industry. I have francophone, Ghanaian and Nigerian flavour and style,” he said, proclaiming that he is unique. TJ Deen revealed that he is currently working around the clock to release his first solo album early next year, a promo CD of which, with two singles, Brush ur teeth and Anita braa, will be out next week. The album he said holds his dream and that is the basis for the title My Dreams. He disclosed that he has featured renowned music trio VIP and that other big names in the industry are set to feature on it. He said he will be shooting a video for the Brush ur teeth song soon. In his quest to reach and attain international standards, the young talented musician has launched his own website to project his music and personality.
