THE Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) says the mapping of employees of the Ghana Education Service (GES) onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been completed. It said the mapping formed the final stage on the way to the successful implementation of the SSSS in the GES. A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of GNAT, Mr Peter Korda, and issued yesterday recalled that on January 7, 2011, GNAT issued a statement informing its members about the setting up of a task force to fast-track the migration onto the SSSS. "The task force (technical group) which assisted the GES and a consultant to do the mapping finished and submitted its report to the GES management on Saturday, January 15, 2011," it said. It said checks at the offices of the GES indicated that the report had been forwarded to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) for onward submission to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for authorisation and directive to the Controller and Accountant-General to effect payment. "We appeal to our members to continue to exhibit a high sense of maturity as the aforementioned institutions go through the process of ensuring that all GES employees are rolled onto the SSSS," the statement said.
