The High Commission of India in collaboration with Silverbird Entertainment Ghana Limited will hold the second edition of the Festival of Indian Films in Accra.
The Festival begins on Friday, January 28th 2011 with a grand opening(by invitation only) at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall.
The Second Indian Film Festival is being celebrated as part of activities marking India’s 62nd Republic Day which falls on the 26th of January, 2011.
The Festival will also create a unique platform and opportunity to showcase Indian culture. Lasting till the 3rd of February 2011, the weeklong festival will feature thirteen classic Indian movies, free to the Ghanaian public.
Among the movies to be screened during the festival are the Box Office Hits 3 Idiots, Koi Mil Gaya, Seeta Aur Geeta, Black and Mother India.
According to Ag. General Manager of Silverbird Ghana Ms Victoria Owusu, “The festival is in line with our commitment to promoting cultures through quality entertainment.
The first Indian Film Festival was a huge success with very positive feedback from many patrons. We know Ghanaians love Indian movies and bringing back to them all the classics is in the right direction to strengthen the already flourishing relations between Ghana and India.
India is gradually becoming one of the leading economies in the world and Silverbird is happy to be associated with this festival, knowing how big entertainment has become in Ghana and across the globe”.
A detailed schedule for the weeklong Festival of Films is as follows:
3 Idiots (Fri 28th Jan, exclusive show at 6pm, by invitation only),
(Sat 29th Jan) 3pm-Koi Mil Gaya & 6pm-Iqbal, (Sun 30th Jan)3pm-Taare Zameen Par & 6pm-Seeta Aur Geeta,(Mon 31st Jan)3pm-Chalte Chalte& 6pm-Black, (Tue 1st Feb) 3pm-Company & 6pm-Mother India, (Wed 2nd Feb)3pm-Kalicharan & 6pm-The Goal, (Thur 3rd Feb) 3pm-Page 3 & 6pm-3 Idiots.
