Lovers of highlife music in Kumasi defied a heavy downpour Saturday night to experience one of the biggest highlife concerts to hit the Garden City in recent times.
The highlife fever had already gripped the Ashanti regional capital as preparations for the event gathered momentum.
Some of the nation’s finest music legends thrilled residents of Kumasi with performances that made them the toast of yesteryears and an inspiration to the new generation.
Artistes like A. B. Crenstil, Pat Thomas, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, George Darko and Dr. Paa Bobo were in their elements as they rocked the stage and sent patrons to shake the dance floor.
The performing musicians had raised public enthusiasm in the show to herald the 2011 commemoration of St. Valentine’s Day, and not even the rains would stop people from trooping to the concert.
The Pre- Valentine Highlife Concert was a collaboration between Nhyira Fm, a member of the Multimedia Group and True Vine Hotel in Kumasi.
Patrons who spoke to Luv News at the end of the program could not hide their excitement and described the performances as classic and spectacular.
Programmes Manager of Nhyira FM, Kwabena Ampong, commended residents for supporting the Multimedia Group to hold successful event.
Sponsors for the concert include PZ Cussons producers of Carex Hand Gel, Bizz Up Energy Drink, First Capital Plus and Business and Financial Times Life Style.
