A youth group in Kumasi has joined forces through theatre arts to contribute to the eradication of stigmatization of People Living with HIV-AIDS. Giants Productions aims at performing on-stage across the length and breadth of the country, in especially educational institutions on the menace of HIV-AIDS. The group was launched in the Garden City over the weekend, with the staging of its maiden performance of a play entitled, “Things We do for Aids”. Director of the production company, Juliana Yeboah tells Luv News whilst entertaining the public through drama, the “By the end of the year, we hope to cover a number of the schools in Ghana. When people look as things it sticks for a long time and we have also decided to take drama as a form of educating people on stigmatization”, she said. Ms. Yeboah says the project will also be extended to bus terminals and market places to increase awareness of HIV-AIDS. “We realized that some people don’t even know that HIV is not only contracted through sexual activities but also through other unprotected measures and we intend to educate as well as entertain with the drama”, the Directed added.
