The Easter festivities got off on a high note for most Christians who thronged the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre for the 13th edition of Harvest Praise, the annual Praise concert organized by Harvest International Ministries.
This year’s edition of Harvest Praise with the theme “Amazing Grace” brought together some of the biggest names in gospel music both locally and internationally to evangelize through gospel music.
The near four-hour praise and worship encounter started with the evergreen Harvest Gospel Choir which churned out inspirational tunes which got the audience onto the dance floor of the Dome.
The Harvest Theatre troupe also put up a beautiful re-enactment of the crucifixion of Christ – an event which is central to the celebration of Easter.
The “reigning queen” of Ghanaian gospel music, Cecilia Marfo was in high spirits as she mounted the stage. As is her style, she had to shuffle between the stage and the audience as she led them in worship and praise with songs such as “Wokora Woye Odehye”, “Yesu Adi Nkunim” and her hit song “Afunumuba.”
The unmistakable harmonies of the exciting Daughters of Glorious Jesus added some colour to the concert as they churned out some of the hit tunes from their albums such as “Anwannwa Din”, “Mebo Yesu Din Daa” and the like.
The much-awaited moment came when South African gospel legend, Rev. Benjamin Dube – already charged from the shouts and applause of the audience – mounted the stage to lead the audience through a time of worship as he had promised.
Backed by a four-member group, Rev Dube hypnotized the large audience with heavy South African accentuated songs including "Ngiyakuthanda Moy”, "Ongcwele”, "Thum" and “Imvuselelo Kimi Nkosi".
