Fresh from winning the "Best African Artist"" award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards held in Trinidad in late May 2011, Ghanaian Reggae star Rocky Dawuni is playing a series of high profile "not to be missed" summer concerts in the greater Los Angeles area before heading back to Ghana and Europe to finish out the summer festival season.
Rocky was also nominated in the "Best Album" category for his current hit CD "Hymns for the Rebel Soul" as well as for "Outstanding World Music Album" by the prestigious NAACP Image Awards.
The summer stand started with his spirited headlining performance in front of thousands at the "Make Music Pasadena" Festival where Afro Funke' produced the Levitt Pavilion Stage on June 18 with DJ Glenn Red plus special guests DJ Garth Trinidad and BA African Band.
Rocky's U.S. summer run will climax with an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl alongside the legendary Stevie Wonder for KCRW"s "Global Soul" event also featuring Rickey Minor, Sharon Jones, Janelle Monae & other special guests on July 24, 2011.
Rocky Dawuni's live performances with his full 11 piece band and eclectic mix of Reggae, Afrobeat and Soul has endeared him to audiences worldwide.
