Ten schools in the Mfantseman Municipality have entered into partnerships with schools in Kent County Council in the United Kingdom.
The partnership was made possible following a Sister City relationship entered into by the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly and the Kent County Council.
The partnership would enable the schools to share ideas on methodology, cultural practices, religious inclination and social practices. It would also encourage visits among the children and teachers and also to share gifts.
Presenting modems to the schools to enhance communication with their partners in the Kent County Council, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron; Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) charged the schools to teach the children how to relate with others as they would be receiving visitors from their partners.
The MCE also charged the teachers to give the partnership the seriousness that it deserved.
Mr Simeon Obotan Larbi, Municipal Director of Education said the schools selected should be proud of the partnership.
He said they must see themselves as role models to the schools which were not in the partnership and study hard.
Alhaji Ishaq Asuru, Municipal Coordinating Director called on the Partnership Coordinators to bear in mind that the success of the partnership depended on them. They must therefore work hard to promote its success.
Mr John Etuah, Municipal Budget Analyst and the coordinator of the programme, cautioned the coordinators against using the modems to do their private work.
The schools are Anomabo Methodist Primary; Baifikrom M/A School; Mankessim M/A Primary ‘B’; Nkwanta Catholic Primary School and Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.
The rest are, T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School; Mankessim Secondary Technical School; Saltpond Catholic School; Narkwa Methodist Primary School and Abor Methodist Primary School.
