Sexy songstress Mzbel known in real life as Nana Ekua Amoah is set to release a single on her unfortunate encounter with the police on Sunday June 5 where she was alleged to have attacked a policeman.
Mzbel and two others were reported to have deliberately run their Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle with registration number GR 9470-11 into the policeman who fell on the bonnet of the vehicle, an allegation she denies.
The controversial musician, together with the two were arraigned before court and remanded but were later granted bail after her lawyers filed an application at the Human Rights court.
The singer told Myjoyonline.com in an interview Wednesday that she is currently in the studio with producer JQ recording the track titled My Bonnet to be released in a month’s time.
“My Bonnet…it has to do with my issue with the police,” she said emphasizing the song is not aimed at explaining her side of the incident or defend herself but rather it is “just a comic song,” for her fans who have been very supportive of her during her trial times.
No more albums
Asked when her fans should expect another album from her, Mzbel disclosed that she is no longer going to release albums considering the numerous challenges artistes face when they release songs and albums.
The ‘Saucy girl’ reiterated that “people don’t buy albums no more, they copy”, a situation she insists is becoming worrisome considering the fact that it is depriving musicians from making incomes from their works.
For her, she is going to release a single every six months and will largely depend on incomes from shows and concerts since that’s the ultimate source of income for most, if not all, Ghanaian musicians.
Aside her upcoming reality television series Bell and the City, Mzbel is the star of Venus Films Production’s latest movie, Single Six where she plays the role of Serena, one of the lead roles in the movie.
That movie premieres July 29.
