A lecturer at the University College of Management Studies has criticized what he says are rigid admission requirements for prospective students. Students of the University have been asked by the National Accreditation Board to rewrite the WASSCE exams before they can graduate. It said an audit it conducted revealed some students were admitted with aggregate 26 when the cut off grade is 24. But a lecturer at the University College of Management Studies James Creppy told Joy News the Accreditation Board must relax the entry requirements to increase access to university education. “We need to relax access to university education because we are losing a lot of talents, by insisting on certain regimental rules. “This insistence on unnecessary requirement is surely not good, infact it is meaningless.” He noted that for one to perform and excel at the university level, “ [it]is not so much about how you entered, it is so much about how you make effective use of the university environment”.
