Police have cordoned off the Chief’s Palace in the Mepe-Bator traditional area to prevent clashes, following the violent escalation of a protracted dispute.
The factions in the dispute engaged in violence yesterday, leaving five seriously wounded. This was after one of the factions attempted to install a rival chief.
North Tongu District Chief Executive, Bubey Dzinadu who visited the community says the police team has been reinforced to protect the peace.
According to him the clashes started around 2:00 am with five people sustaining gunshot wounds.
They are on admission but their condition is stable, he noted.
He said police are investigating the matter but no arrest has yet been made.
Bubey Dzinadu said none of the rival faction will be allowed to install a chief.
