Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has presented cheques totaling GH¢12,000 and assorted cocoa products to the Adabraka Atukpai Stool Authority on whose land the head office of COCOBOD is situated.
The donation which forms part of COCOBOD’s corporate social responsibility comprises Gh¢10,000 for the Educational Fund set up by the Atukpai Stool Authority, and Gh¢2,000 towards the celebration of the 2011 Homowo festival.
Making the donation on behalf of COCOBOD, Dr. Yaw Adu-Ampomah, Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control said COCOBOD contributes immensely to the education of the youth in Ghana. ‘In any given year, COCOBOD provides scholarship for about 10,000 students in second cycle institutions across the country ’, he said. On behalf of COCOBOD, he urged the Atukpai Stool Authority to utilise the funds judiciously to improve educational facilities for the youth.
Mr. Eric Addy, the Public Affairs Officer of the Authority, who received the donation on behalf of the Adabraka Mantse and the traditional council thanked COCOBOD for the support and assured the Board that the funds and items will be used for the intended purpose.
Cocoa House, Accra, Head Office of Ghana Cocoa Board which was constructed in 1957 and commissioned in 1960 by the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, former President of the Republic of Ghana is situated on the Adabraka Stool Land in the central business district of Accra.
