The head of the Korle-Bu Cadiothoracic Centre, Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has been sacked.
Prof Boateng confirmed the dismissal in an interview with Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh Friday afternoon.
He said he was handed his dismissal letter signed by the Health Minister, Yieleh Chireh late Thursday and was to take effect immediately. No reasons were assigned for the dismissal, at least for now.
Prof Boateng said he has had no problem with the Ministry and believes his dismissal is in the best interest of the country.
“I do not feel disappointed,” he said, adding that after his long years of service to the nation he “feels very good” such a decision has been taken.
He said until his dismissal, he has been in talks with the Ministry over the last few weeks on pertinent issues affecting the sector.
Prof Boateng noted he will still play active role in health issues in the country, his dismissal notwithstanding.
The Health Minister was not available for comment. His deputy Rojo Mettle Nunoo however told Joy News he is unaware of the decision.
