A multi-purpose Community Center has been commissioned at Busie in the Nadowli district of the Upper West Region at the cost of Ghc45, 000.00. This was based on a campaign promise the NDC then in opposition made to the people of the area when they met with leadership of the party in the run-up of the 2008 general elections. The District Chief Executive for Nadowli, Kangsangabata Abu said the Busie area is one of the areas in the district that gives the assembly a chunk of revenue for its development projects. He said the commissioning of the community center is in fulfillment of a campaign promise given to the people in the area. He said similar projects have been carried out in Goli, Naro and Jang all in the district. He urged the people to come together for real development to take place. He advised the people to be patient with the government as their needs will be met in the not too distant future. He said the assembly has also drilled two boreholes at the cost of Ghc20, 000.00 to help bring good drinking water to the people. He debunked a rumor going round the district that a new district is to be carved out from the district and he plans to take the district capital to his hometown. He said those involved in the rumor mill are not people from any other party but members of the NDC. He said the Community Center will afford the people the opportunity to have a meeting place. He thanked the people for understanding the government and assisting him to run the affairs of government machinery smoothly in the district. He said the district assembly has been doing all it can to make life easier for the generality of people of the district. The MP for the area, Mathias Puozaa said he was happy that the Community Center has been provided in honour of the promise by the ruling NDC government. He said there is a limit to what the MP can do for his constituency. For example he said the MP needs government assistance to be able to provide electricity for an area. He stated that his interest lies in providing education and portable drinking water for all communities in his area of jurisdiction. He called for unity within the rank and file of the party in the area. The district chief executive later commissioned a renovated building built during the Acheampong era to be used as quarters for nurses posted to the district. The Assembly Member for Busie East Electoral Area, Francis Kanbile said they are happy that their felt need has been given them. He commended the Member of Parliament for the area and the District Chief Executive for the timely intervention and appealed for more infrastructure to develop the area.
