Charming Ms Priscilla Asare was in the wee hours of Sunday crowned winner of this year’s Club Miss Tourism beauty pageant at the National Theatre after what has been termed the fiercest competition yet since the pageant’s inception three years ago. Priscilla who represented the Eastern region beat nine others to be crowned Ghana’s tourism ambassador with the core mandate of promoting Ghana’s tourism potentials to the world for the next 12 months. The well patronized pageant which was attended by personalities who matter in Ghana’s tourism sector, including the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Akua Sena Dansua and the Zimbabwean High Commissioner to Ghana, Mrs. Pavelyn Tenclai Musaka, began with last year’s winner, Charlotte Sika Quagrine enumerating her successes since being crowned Miss Tourism 2010. Right after that message, the ten finalists; Jennifer Annan Akun (Upper West region), Evelyn Naa Ababio (Greater Accra region), Michaella Araba Etwire (Western region), Golda Aba Dayi (Central region), Patience Avorgbedor (Northern region), Evelyn Enyonam Hadzor (Volta region), Emefa Akosua Adeti (Upper East region), Priscilla Asare (Eastern region) Sandra Dankwah Ashanti and Ida Abaanya Seidu (Brong Ahafo region) were ushered onto the stage to be introduced to an expectant audience and judges. The actual competition began with the girls taking turns to show off their talents. Interestingly, the various talent displays also focused on the core theme of the competition - tourism. Some of the girls put up splendid performances on the need to clean our beaches, locating tourist sites, the evils of sex tourism and the impact of land disputes on tourism. After that talent performance, the girls still had a lot more convincing to do as they were tasked to unearth their respective region’s heritage and history, and the various tourism potentials in these regions – they had three minutes to do that. The girls later lit the stage with their beauty as they catwalked in superbly and uniquely designed African wears. That segment came with its own charm as they looked stunningly beautiful and breathtaking on stage. With accompanying smiles, the girls gently modeled their way into the hearts of fans who were constantly cheering for them.
