Controversial sexy female musician, Mzbel has revealed plans of starting a new reality show, I Wanna Be Mzbel to unearth the next female musical sensation in Ghana.
The music and dance reality show, according to Mzbel known in real life as Nana Ekua Amoah who disclosed this in an interview with Myjoyonline.com, is targeted at young females between the ages of 16 and 21 who have the passion to sing and dance.
Mzbel explained that contrary to the name, I Wanna Be Mzbel, she is not really looking for her successor: “Not really the next Mzbel, I am looking for the girls that I inspire,” she said.
Asked the criteria for the selection of possible contestants for the show, she said hopefuls “must be able to read and write English, sing and must be able to choreograph some dancing steps...any dance steps.”
According to the bubbly Mzbel known to be one of Ghana's formidable female artistes, the reality show is in its preparation stages and will take off soon. She hinted that when it kicks starts, there will regional auditions producing ten finalists, one from each region.
The final ten will then compete for the ultimate prize of winning the maiden edition of the reality show.
For the winner’s prize, Mzbel said “We will record a song and a video plus a one year management contract for her (the winner) with a grand price which we have not settled on yet. After one year, she can decide to continue working with us or not.”
Mzbel, who will be a judge on the show, was optimistic that it will start before the year comes to a close. I Wanna Be Mzbel will be pre-recorded and shown later on TV.
The songstress is yet to premiere her first project, Bel & the City, a reality show about her daily life which she started some months ago.
Mzbel is well known for her sexy appeal on stage liaised with controversy. She is credited with several hit songs including Awoseme, 16 Years and Saucy Girl.
