Miss Ghana 2004, Inna Mariam Patty has taken over the rights to organise the prestigious annual Miss Ghana pageant. A formal announcement was made at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra Monday, at which the new organisers of the pageant, Exclusive Events Ghana, owned by Inna Patty was introduced to the press. Immediate past organisers, Media Whizz Kids, were also in tow to explain the rationale behind the changeover. Mr Reginald Gaddy Laryea, Chairman of Media Whizz Kids said his outfit has been at the helm of affairs of organising the pageant for the past 30 years. While deciding to move on, “we as organisers and Gaddy Laryea as chairman of Media Whizz Kids have decided that we are handing over the franchise and the event planning and management of the Miss Ghana event to Exclusive Events Ghana.” Dismissing allegations that Media Whizz Kids are bankrupt hence the handing over of the franchise to a new company in a year that will see the pageant take a breather, the Media Whizz Kids chairman said his outfit is nowhere near bankruptcy and that the decision to hand over the pageant was a pure in-house decision to move on. The pageant which holds regional contests throughout the length and breadth of the country, Gaddy said, is a huge event and is not for the faint-hearted. He believes Inna’s company is a vibrant company capable of organising the pageant successfully. “I have every confidence in Inna Patty and I trust that the next two years, a Miss World is going to emerge from Ghana,” he noted. Inna Mariam Patty also said the franchise to run the pageant has been a long cherished dream of hers. “Six years, I was that child who had sleepless nights envisaging how I could contribute to the positive renaissance of the Miss Ghana pageant. Then, it felt like an impossible dream. With perseverance, commitment, hard work and the Almighty’s grace, that dream has become a reality.” The former beauty queen said her “experienced team will not only live up to" expectations but will "exceed them,” promising further that they will not let Ghanaians down but will “crown a queen of the people, for the people and by the people.” There will be no Miss Ghana this year but the search for a new beauty queen will be launched February 2012. Unlike the past where a beauty queen will have to wait for a year before she represents the country at the Miss World pageant, new arrangements will ensure that winners will represent the country the same year they are crowned Miss Ghana.
