Many Ghanaians were shocked when former Hip-life star, Lord Kenya, announced that he had been ‘arrested’ by the Holy Spirit and had become a born-again Christian.
They had found it difficult to believe that Lord Kenya, a self-acclaimed ‘wee’ smoker and the man behind secular songs such as ‘Sika Baa’, would suddenly claim to be born-again.
When he was asked whether he would give up Hip life music for gospel music, Lord Kenya had said he would wait for the direction of The Holy Spirit.
However, it appears God has finally directed Lord Kenya to do gospel music, as he is set to launch his maiden gospel album.
The new release titled ‘Christ Life’ will be launched at 5:00p.m on December 10 at the St James Baptist Church, Bantama, Kumasi.
Lord Kenya will be supported at the launch by Agape Incorporated, Prophet Seth Frempong, Slim Becky, and Rev George Owusu Mensah.
Speaking to The Mirror, Lord Kenya gave the assurance that after the release of the album, his numerous fans will begin to see the glory of God in his work.
He also expressed hope that many people who listen to the songs on his new album will become born-again Christians.
Earlier, Lord Kenya had explained that his fife changed on his way to his regular ‘wee’ base to get his supply of the stuff, when he was hit by lightning.
According to him, he had tried getting up but couldn’t, so he fell on his “knees in a prayerful pose and started crying like a baby”.
Lord Kenya said: “I refused to take my usual supply of ‘wee’ that night and headed home but I was ‘arrested’ by the Holy Spirit and ended up in a church in my neighbourhood called the Christian Eoanerges Gospel Ministry where I was warmly received and anointed.
“All the while, I was crying. I have not been the same since that night. I have quit smoking and drinking and now spend my time in the house of the Lord. I have become very prayerful as well.”
Lord Kenya says now he feels extremely relieved and humbled by the whole process, adding that, “I am the happiest person on earth”.
