Ghana has been described as one of the countries in Africa which is highly receptive to technological advancement. According to the Chief Executive Officer of Cybersynchs, Mr Amos Winbush III, his recent visit to Ghana which afforded him the opportunity to discuss the use of Information Communication technology (ICT) has revealed interesting developments which needed to be explored. As a result, he said Cybersynchs, a software development and licensing company, was looking at opportunities to scale up its partnership deals with Ghanaian mobile operators in the competi-tive telecommunications industry. Addressing a group of selected financial journalists in Ghana during a visit to the country, Mr Winbush III said “Cybersynchs was ready to respond to technology advancements by providing value-added services in the Ghanaian market that would meet the needs of consumers”. The company, which has in the past two years executed partnership deals with some mobile companies, said the partnership had worked well to the mutual benefits of the parties, but declined to name the companies in the deal. Some of the areas of Cybersynchs include provision of security with Global Positioning Systems that allows customers who lose their mobile device to be able to track them, backs up mobile content through synchronisation and ability to stream live media. This is expected to bring some relief to many Ghanaians whose phones are snatched from them by some unscrupulous people who have made it their business to rob unsuspecting people of their phones. “We have a universal synchronisation platform that can store and transfer electronic data to and from all of your media devices and provide customers with complete access to all their digital content and all of these can be shared between systems,” he said. Mr Winbush III said Cybersynchs provided customers the security of information which many mobile phone users lack, adding that customers would be able to access from anywhere in the world via the company web service view their contacts, text messages, voice mails, notes, photos, videos, ringtones, calendar, and email without having the phone in hand. “This synchronisation of mobile data with Cybersynchs is enough guarantee to users that their information is safe even if the mobile device is broken, misplaced, or stole,” he said. To ensure security of personal data, Mr Winbush III said users were allowed to create an encrypted password while personal information was stored on a pri-vate web server that is only accessible through secure communication with the Cybersynchs Web Service. In the event that a device is stolen, Cybersynchs also enables its user to access the website, manage the data, and even delete all information from the phone if desired. Mr Winbush III said the company was also looking at meeting the data storage needs of 1 20 million people through cloud computing in African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Benin and South Africa. He said the company was always researching in order to continually develop technology solutions that meet the needs of its customers. Amos Winbush III, a well-known young entrepreneur, had, among other awards, received accolade for being the “2010 innovator of the Year” from Black En-terprise Magazine.
