The Upper East Region will host the 27th Annual Conference of Heads of Special Schools in Ghana.
Mr. Francis Andeeba, Headmaster of Gbeogo School for the Deaf, told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that the conference would be held from September 02 to 08.
Mr. Andeeba said the hospitality of the people of the region showed when it hosted the National Best Teacher Award in 2006 and the National AIDS Conference contributed to the region's selection to host the conference.
The region has four Special Needs Schools and these are Gbeogo School for the Deaf at Tongo, St. John's Integrated Senior High School/Technical at Tono in the Kassen-Nankana District, St. John's Special School in Bolgatanga and Balobia Special School in Navrongo.
He said the heads would brainstorm on the Education Reform and the role of Special Schools in the Socio-economic development of Ghana.
