Country star Randy Travis was arrested in Sanger, Texas, early Monday morning for public intoxication. The Denton County Sheriff's Office tells CNN that Sanger police found a vehicle parked in front of a Baptist church very early Monday morning and, upon further investigation, discovered Travis in the car with an open bottle of wine. The police say the 52-year-old singer smelled of alcohol. According to the Sheriff's Office, Travis was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday and taken to the Denton, Texas, county jail. He was given a citation and held because of intoxication until 7:44 this morning, when he was released. "I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl," Travis tells CNN in a statement. "I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."
