The Nkoranza District Directorate of Education has set aside a day each year to honour best teachers and workers to promote education in the district.
About 200 workers would be presented with certificates of honour, special awards and incentive packages on the "Nkoranza Education Day" on September 18.
Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education, told the GNA that the directorate had procured television sets, refrigerators, gas cookers and cylinders for the awardees.
He said the government had also provided 60 bicycles to be presented to teachers serving in the most deprived communities of the district.
"The awards are meant to boost the morale of teachers and to encourage them to re-double efforts to help improve the standard of education in the communities."
Mr. Agyemang-Badu said the best teachers comprised those who excelled between 2004 and 2007.
He commended the District Assembly for providing 70 million cedis to augment the directorate's 100 million cedis.
