Actress Khareema Aguiar has been accused of defrauding an unsuspecting citizen of GHS1,500 through a car sale.
Per a handwritten document of the sale submitted to Myjoyonline.com by daughter of the owner of said car, Juanita Ewurabena Fordjor, Khareema bought the red Toyota Corolla, from Mrs Emma Vesta Fordjour on July 31, 2010 for GH¢4,500. That document was signed by Kareema and Mrs Fordjour.
According to the document, the actress made an initial deposit of GH¢2,000 with a promise of settling the remaining GH¢2,500 “within a period of 3-4 weeks.”
Juanita narrated, with evidence, to Myjoyonline.com that Khareema failed to honour the terms of the agreement within the period. She only returned to make a second payment of GH¢1,000 on October 6, 2010 - three months after expiration of the time when she should have finished paying.
She said not much was heard from the actress after that payment, she changed her residence and phone numbers. Mrs Fordjour finally got in touch with Khareema late last year – she promised to effect the final payment.
Nothing was heard of the CheckMate actress until recently when she called to complain that they, owners of the car, had taken her to Joy FM to be disgraced.
“We gave her ample time for her to pay us the money. We didn’t want anything to do with her, all that we wanted anything to do with her all that we wanted was the money and that was it. Since 2010 up to now, I think we’ve given her enough time and we’ve been so patient we’ve not even take her to the police we could have done that,” Juanita told Myjoyonline.com.
Juanita said the actress had no excuse not to pay the balance because information available to them indicated that Miss Aguiar had also sold the car to another person at twice the amount she bought it.
According to Juanita, her mother is considering reporting the matter to the police and subsequently seeking legal action against the actress if she fails to pay up.
When Myjoyonline.com contacted Khareema Aguiar, she initially said she didn’t want to comment on the matter but alleged that some people are trying to pull her down. “I ask myself, is it that bad to be in the public domain or is it that bad to do the kind of job that we do because it looks like people are just looking for how to bring you down.”
When told that there is a document to back the claim that she was owing, she hanged up on us.
