Winner of Season VI of TV3's music reality show Mentor, Stone has likened his participation in and subsequent winning of the competition to the Biblical “rejected stone" that became the head cornerstone.
According to him, no one expected that he would win the competition even after he managed to qualify, adding that he had been relegated to the background several times on the show.
Stone won the 13-week reality show after beating other five finalists Rama, Ann, Lami, Xta, and Rhoda, picking for his prize a Hyundai i10, GH¢7,000 and a recording contract.
Speaking on Adom FM’s weekend entertainment show, Adom Billboard over the weekend, Stone said no one believed in him or thought he had the talent needed and because of that he was given little attention in both his first and second attempts.
Stone, real name Godwin Boakye Yiadom was disqualified at the auditions for Mentor Five and was only selected for the sixth edition after one of the contestants was disqualified for failing a medical test.
Stone thanked God that at long last, he had been able to prove a point by winning the competition. He continued that he has learnt so much by participating in the show and has improved on his performance.
His biggest challenge, he told Billboard host, Kofi De-Acquah, was how to prove to his critics that he has a superb music talent he intends to unlease unto the music scene.
Stone hinted that he would be releasing his maiden album in the next three weeks and threw a challenge to Ghanaian artistes to watch out for him because he would be giving them a big chase when the album comes out.
A while mocked that virtually everyone gave up on him, his parents have told Adom Entertainment News that they are not surprised their son was crowned the winner of Mentor VI, adding that he (Stone) had exhibited great music talent at a very tender age.
They however said they were quite amazed because their son did not give them any hint of his participation in the talent show.
