Sensational gospel musician Celestine Donkor has revealed that this year’s Celestial Praize concert planned for African Union Day, May 25, will seek to touch God's heart to give Ghana peace during the December elections.
The musician who was speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com ahead of the second edition of the annual concert, said last year’s concert was beyond expectation and she expects a bigger show this year.
Over 2,000 music lovers and worshipers filled the Royal House chapel for the maiden event last year, a good omen the Supernatural singer says she expects to repeat this year.
The 2012 Celestial Praiz is under the theme, Peace be still, a theme the musician explained has been carefully selected due to the need for a peaceful Ghana during and after the presidential and parliamentary elections in December.
Rev. Tetteh Djangmah will be speaking on the theme at the concert.
Artistes lined for this mega concert include, 12-year-old Edmond Donkor, Gracy Yawson, Joe Mettle, Cindy Thompson, Martin Hayford, Selina Boateng, Everflourishing Choir and the Pais Ghana Music Band, an all-white band that sings in local languages.
She hinted that, “this year, the selection of the artistes on the programme,” have been uniquely done to “appeal to everybody,” who will visit the Winners Chapel Ghana, Industrial Area, Accra for the free concert.
To her, “the expectation,” for the event “is that the presence of God will be so awesome that healing will take place. I believe that something great will happen.”
Proceeds from last year’s event were used for charitable activities at Sodom and Gomorrah. This year, Celestine Donkor disclosed that they will channel the proceeds towards the care of HIV/AIDS patients at Pokuase in the Greater Accra region.
The highpoint of the concert will be the release and sale of a video compilation by Celestine Donkor. The compilation comprises videos of Manim Nguase, I Can Be Righteous, Supernatural, Adekye Mu Nsem and others.
