Nominees of this year’s edition of the Ghana Gospel Industry Awards (GGIA) were given an enjoyable treat by organizers, Adom FM, at the Ange Hill Hotel on Friday, June 15.
The cocktail treat which is one of the new additions to the Awards this year was to afford the nominees the chance to get together, interact and bond in a relaxed environment devoid of any competitiveness.
A large number of nominees notable among them Selina Boateng, Supt. Kofi Sarpong, Lady Prempeh, Skulfuo, Adehyemaa, members of the GGIA Academy and other invited guests were all present at the exciting event interspersed with music provided by a live band and an impromptu performance by the nominees in attendance.
When they took over the mic, the nominees collectively performed songs like Medofo Pa by Selina Boateng, Ne Ntaban by Lady Prempeh, Ayeyi Ndwom by Supt. Kofi Sarpong, Meho Adwiri Me by Adehyemaa among others and they capped it all off with famed reggae legend Bob Marley’s One Love.
In a short speech, Chairman of the Academy, Bessa Simons expressed the hope that the cocktail will enhance the relationship between the nominees to make the gospel industry a vibrant one.
He encouraged them to see themselves as winners once they have been nominated since not everyone was lucky to get a nomination.
He however urged nominees to shun shoddy packaging especially their CDs and covers and invest in quality and appealing packaging since that goes a long way to boost their image.
Frankie Odoom, Events and Promotions Manager at Adom FM, was enthused that the gathering lived up to its expectation - that is creating more room for socialization and fun.
He said all is set for the event which comes off at the Accra International Conference Centre on June 23 adding fans of the nominees and the general public should troop in to see not only their favourites picking up awards but catch what is promised to be exciting performances from Selina Boateng, Diana Hamilton, Cecilia Marfo, Ernest Opoku, Cwesi Oteng, Herty Borngreat and with some surprise artistes passing through.
Some of the nominees who spoke with adomonline.com expressed optimism at winning awards in their various categories and appealed to their fans to continue to vote massively for them.
