The Gomoa District Director of Education, Mrs Betty Lokko, has praised private schools for providing quality education in the country. Mrs. Lokko however urged them to motivate their teachers to be self-confident and also organize in-service training for them to enhance their academic and professional competence. She said this when addressing an emergency meeting of the Gomoa district branch of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) at Apam to discuss the "new educational reforms. She urged guidance and counselling officers to identify children with physical disabilities and give them the necessary assistance. The chairman of the Gomoa District branch of GNAPS, Mr Hayford Quaye gave the assurance that members of the association would continue to give-off their best towards the success of the new educational reforms. Mrs. Betty Brew-Darbies, Proprietress of the Jubilee Preparatory School at Kasoa, who chaired the function advised private schools to insist on discipline to enhance academic excellence. She urged proprietors to charge a uniform school fees to avoid pupils leaving their schools to others as a result of fee difference. Source: GNA
