Nana Appiah Dankwa, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Manager of Methodist Educational Unit, has observed that teachers' professional attitude towards the New Education Reform was crucial to its successful implementation.
He cautioned them against any acts that may undermine the full realization of the laudable objectives of the programme.
Nana Dankwa was speaking at Pasoro in the Atwima Nwabiagya District on Tuesday, after Mr. Thomas Ofori Donkor, the District Chief Executive, had inaugurated a six classroom block for the local Methodist primary school.
The assembly under the Social Investment Fund, at the cost of 75,000 Ghana cedis constructed the school building.
Nana Dankwa said government had put in place measures including the supply of means of transport and household appliances, institution of housing scheme, study leave with pay and other incentives to improve the service conditions of teachers.
He advised teachers to put in their maximum efforts to achieve realistic academic output.
Nana Dankwa advised teachers that even though they were confronted with many challenges the try and exhibit high professionalism in the work.
He urged parents and other stakeholders in the education sector to contribute meaningfully towards the development of education.
Nana Dankwa called on the Ghana Education Service to intensify the monitoring and supervision of schools and asked government, donor agencies and district assemblies to provide officials of districts and regional education units with means of transport to facilitate their work.
