Ghana’s representative at this year’s Big Brother Africa StarGame reality show, Keitta has disclosed that he has started laying the foundation to bring a major facelift to the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
After clocking 77 days in the reality show that ended on August 5, and becoming Ghana’s best performing housemate, the Ghanaian model disclosed on Joy FM's Super Morning Show that he is keen on changing the industry to make it profitable.
“There is one thing I want to change in the industry, it is about the girls we put in our videos. I want to groom them; I just want to improve our video quality and the elements in our videos to make them better,” he said.
To achieve this, Keitta, who is a brother of Reggie Rockstone, hiplife godfather, said he was starting an entertainment company, Stargate Entertainment, to cater for his plans that will include quality multimedia productions.
Keitta, who entered the reality show with his girlfriend, musician Mildred known in showbiz as Eazzy, captivated viewers of the reality show with his Azonto dance moves.
He said the dance has now put Ghana on the international map and it has opened the door to bigger opportunities for him and the country: “South Africans and the rest of Africa really love the dance,” he said.
The model added, it has inspired him to introduce his King of Azonto Keitta brand and has released t-shirts which have already recorded impressive sales in South Africa.
Keitta disclosed that this was his second time auditioning for the Big Brother Africa reality with the aim of using the platform to boost his modeling career.
Touching on whether he and his girlfriend, being the only couple in reality show, had a game plan, Keitta said “we didn’t have a game plan,” adding he entered the show with the intention to be himself, to be natural and attributed his friendship with the show’s winner, Keagan, from South Africa, as evidence of this.
It is noteworthy that he was the only housemate who was never nominated for possible eviction and was only evicted because Uganda housemate Kyle, who was then Head of House, replaced him with Keagan.
Touching on Keagan’s win, Reggie Rockstone, who was also in the studio disclosed that he knew the South African would win.
“I knew it was coming because I just felt that South Africa had to win this one. It was in the interest of Endemol [the organizers] and everybody for South Africa to win. They had never won,” he said.
The reality show since its inception almost a decade ago has been hit with a barrage of criticisms with many calling for its cessation due to what they call its potential negative influences on the society.
Keitta did not agree with the assertion stating, “Big Brother is a platform where you can display your talent, whatever you have to display to Africa. It is teaching people how to come together as Africans with different cultures.”
Keitta and Liberian housemate, Zainab will be modeling at the Glitz Africa Fashion Week at the Accra International Conference Centre Sunday.
He disclosed that he will be releasing a single, One Boxer soon.
