Message Of Condolence To The Government And People Of Ethiopia
From The All African Student’s Union (Aasu)
The all Africa Students Union (AASU) has received with deep grieve and
devastation the news of the death of his Excellency Prime Minister Meles
Zenawi of Ethiopia. We wish to extend our warmest sympathies and
condolences to the people of Ethiopia. We would also like to re-assure the
nation that we stand with them in these very trying times.
Indeed a great tree has fallen and the African continent has lost one of its great leaders. His demise will be greatly missed and he will be remembered as an epitome of a bastion for youth and student rights not only in Ethiopia but in Africa as well.
We however call upon the youth, students and people of Ethiopia to
stay united and strong as we mourn this great loss. The students of Africa beseech the government and leadership of Ethiopia to allow due process to prevail as provided for in the country’s constitution at such a time as this that Africa’s democracy is under test.
Once again our hearts go out to Ethiopia and its people. May the spirit that binds
you together grow stronger in this time of grief.
Signed,
FRED AWAAH
SECRETARY GENERAL
ALL AFRICA STUDENT’S UNION (AASU)
