Comedy has caught up with Ghanaians as a form of entertainment and unwinding after a stressful day. Venues are always packed to capacity in an atmosphere of jokes.
Our popular art folklore is dotted with comedy greats such as Bob Santo, Bob Okalla, Waterproof, Nkomode and recently Agya Koo, Kwaku Manu, Mr. Beautiful, etc.
The success garnered by these great comedians has become a beacon of hope for all the amateur comedians looking for a big break and a life changing experience.
Based on these facts, Adom TV, one of the channels on Multi TV has designed “Srekwakwa Comedy Talent Show” set to identify and promote the numerous underground comedians in the country.
This talent show competition will pit talented comedians against each other to vie for the ultimate prize over a period of eight weeks. It will be a weekly show and eviction will be by judges score.
Contestants will undergo series of performances – standup comedy routines, skits, sketches, etc. SREKWAKWA!!! will be accompanied by live band music within an audience setting.
Over a 100 hopefuls turned up for the northern sector audition happening now at the Kumasi Cultural Centre. That of the southern sector is slated for the 29 September at the Accra Arts Centre.
The show is opened to all comedians throughout the country. It is free.
Clement Bonney aka Mr. Beautiful is the main presenter for this Adom TV initiative.
