Defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria will be in action on Tuesday, January 11, as they play Sierra Leone at the Omnisport de Douala Stadium.
Algeria won the last edition of the AFCON in Egypt back in 2019, beating Senegal in the final. The Desert Foxes are currently on a 34-game unbeaten run across all competitions.
Algeria last lost a game back in October 2018, a 1-0 defeat to Benin in the qualification process for the 2021 AFCON.
Sierra Leone are making a return to the continental tournament after a 26-year absence. Their last appearance in the AFCON competition was in 1996 when they were also drawn in the same group as Algeria.
The game kicks off at 1 pm.
In Group D, two of Africa's heavyweights will go head-to-head when Nigeria engage Egypt in the group's opener.
The west African side are hoping to start the competition on a bright note but would have to over Egypt in the first group game.
The Super Eagles have a better record against the Pharaohs in their past games in the AFCON, as they have lost just one of their clashes in the tournament's history.
They face each other at the Roumde Adjia Stadium.
Sudan will also play Guinea Bissau in the last game of the day at 7 pm.
