The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has commenced an inspection of various projects, touring various agencies and departments under his ministry.
The Minister, in the company of the Chief Director of the ministry and other deputy directors, as part of his tour on Monday, January 27, 2025, is expected to visit Pokuase and other areas in the region for a briefing on the status of various government projects.

Eric Opoku was part of the second batch of ministers appointed and vetted by Parliament's Appointment Committee on Monday, January 20, 2025.
During his vetting, Eric Opoku told Parliament that his ministry will introduce two key programmes; “Feed Ghana” and “Feed The Industry."

He explained that the “Feed Ghana” programme would focus on ensuring domestic food availability, improving the productivity of crops, supporting farmers and agricultural investments, and employing sustainable farming practices to drive the nation towards food sufficiency.
The “Feed The Industry” programme, on the other hand, he said, would prioritise the development of agro-industrial value chains to encourage the production of raw materials for processing to support industrial growth and job creation.

The tour is expected to clothe him with information on how to achieve these, and the big push to improve agribusiness.
