Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator, Wode Maya, has described the Akropong segment of popular American streamer IShowSpeed’s Ghana tour as the most fulfilling and proudest moment of the entire experience.

Speaking on Personality Profile on Joy FM with Lexis Bill on Thursday, January 29, Wode Maya said the decision to focus on Akropong was a deliberate attempt to showcase the depth of Ghana’s culture, identity, and natural beauty within the limited time available for the live stream.

“For me, Akropong made me so proud because it was a bit of selling everything about who we are as Ghanaians,” he said, explaining that the tour was carefully planned around strict streaming constraints that did not allow long-distance travel.

He revealed that although some viewers questioned why IShowSpeed did not visit destinations such as Cape Coast, the Volta Region, or the northern parts of the country, the logistics of live streaming made extensive travel impossible.

“You can’t go anywhere beyond 15 minutes. The whole arrangement, the streaming — every interval had to be just 15 minutes,” Wode Maya explained.

According to him, the team used the visit to Akropong to highlight nearby attractions, including a waterfall, where IShowSpeed enjoyed a massage experience, adding to the authenticity and excitement of the visit.

Wode Maya also highlighted the cultural significance of IShowSpeed being given a Ghanaian name during his interaction with traditional authorities in Akropong, describing it as a powerful moment of cultural connection.

“He was so excited about the fact that he now has a Ghanaian name and Ghanaian roots,” he said, noting that the gesture resonated strongly with both local and international audiences.

He further praised the leadership of the Akropong traditional area, expressing optimism about the role of young people in leadership, following the smooth coordination and understanding shown by the chief during the visit.

“We showcased our culture very well, and that, for me, was the most interesting and proudest part of everything,” Wode Maya added.

IShowSpeed’s Ghana tour attracted widespread attention online, with millions of viewers tuning in globally, placing Ghana’s culture, people, and tourist attractions firmly in the international spotlight.
