President Akufo-Addo has approved the Ghana Football Association's decision for the 2020-21 season to start in October.
The President announced on Sunday that the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions will start on the month announced by the Association in July after they cancelled the 2019-20 season because of the coronavirus pandemic.
''With respect to football, after due consultations with the Ghana Football Association, it has been decided that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One Football League will restart on Friday, 30th October, with a full regime of testing of the players, technical and management staff,'' he said.

The President announced that 25% of fans will be allowed into stadiums when the season begins.
“No spectators will be allowed at the training centres, and, when actual competition resumes, seating at all stadia will be limited to twenty-five percent (25%) capacity to ensure social distancing. Wearing of masks by spectators at stadia will be mandatory."
Akufo-Addo has also lifted the ban on contact sport, which means teams can start training with immediate effect for the season.
Football activities were halted in March following the outbreak of the deadly virus, which has killed 297 people in the country.
However, the President in July gave the go-ahead for some national teams - U-17 men, U-20 women and U-17 men - to start camping ahead of their respective qualifiers later this year.
For other sporting competitions, the president revealed that their restart will be "determined on a case-by-case basis, pending consultations between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the respective sport associations."
