President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Bono Region for their support that enabled his government to achieve its vision for the nation.
The President acknowledged the immeasurable support and contributions of traditional authorities, religious bodies, and the entire people of the region saying through such support his government was able to make huge achievements in health, education, roads and industrial development.
President expressed his gratitude when he addressed a stakeholder meeting in Sunyani, as part of his “Thank you” tour to the Bono region.
President Akufo-Addo said his government had worked hard in ensuring that every child in the country accessed secondary education, saying more than 1.6 million children had so far benefited from the Free Senior High School (FSHS) programme.
He also highlighted improvements in healthcare including the construction of hospitals and referral hospitals, which had also improved the health condition of the people in the region.
President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure to spur rapid socio-economic growth and development of the Bono Region.
He said improved road networks would also enable farmers to transport their produce to the marketing centres on time, adding drastic improvements in industrial development led to job creation and thereby improved the economy.
President Akufo-Addo called on the electorates to vote for his Vice Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Election 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when they go to ballot on December 7.
He said Alhaji Dr Bawumia and the NPP needed victory to retain political power and continued with his legacies for the progressive development of the region and the nation by extension.
The President was accompanied by some Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs) and some NPP national executives.
Earlier, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, highlighted some achievements of the government in the region, including the construction of access roads and pedestrian walkways which had added to the beauty of Sunyani, the regional capital.
She said the chiefs and people of the region would remain grateful to and remember the President for the upgrade of the Sunyani Regional Hospital into a Teaching Hospital status and the expansion and rehabilitation of the Sunyani Airport.
Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Roads and Highways and MP for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region reiterated government’s readiness to improve road infrastructure in the country.
He said more roads would be constructed under the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) not only to beautify local communities but also to spur economic growth and development.
