Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo has finally held a closed-door meeting with the Omanhene of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Bosome Asor Nkrawiri II ahead of the party’s 15th Extraordinary Conference.
The meeting follows a refusal by the Sunyani Traditional Council to receive the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, over an impasse between the council and the Brong Ahafo Regional branch of the party.
A letter signed by the Akwamuhene of the Council, Nana Kwaku Ababio to the B/A branch of the NPP was emphatic, “we are sorry to inform you that the council cannot receive Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and is entourage….”
But the NPP Youth Organiser Sammy Awuku told Joy News Nana Akufo-Addo had a fruitful meeting with the Omanhene Saturday morning.
He maintained that the NPP as a party has no issue with chiefs in the region.

A statement issued by the party after the meeting said, “Nana Akufo-Addo and his team were warmly received by the Omanhene and his elders.”
It said the NPP flagbearer was accompanied by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his running mate; Nana Obiri Boahen, NPP deputy General Secretary; Madam Ama Busia and Hackman Owusu Agyeman, both members of the NPP National Council of Elders.
Others included Baffuor Awuah, former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and MP for Sunyani West; Mr. Peter Mac Manu, 2016 Campaign Manager; and Kwadwo Yeboah Fordjuor, former NPP Regional Chairman.
The Brong Ahafo regional Secretary of the NPP, Alfred Annye had earlier told Joy News about the need for the National Executive of the party to intervene in the impasse.
Meanwhile, Sammy Awuku has stated that the National Executive of the NPP is “committed to resolving the issue”.
