The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has strongly criticised the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing it as “very terrible and very corrupt.”
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, August 30, Mr Braimah argued that the Akufo-Addo government failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians, despite assuming office in 2017 with widespread public goodwill.
He stressed that corruption and mismanagement became defining features of the administration, eroding public trust.
“The Akufo-Addo regime was very terrible and very corrupt,” Mr Braimah said.
“They came with a lot of promise, but what we saw in terms of governance was far below what the people of Ghana deserved.”
He added that the failure to deliver on transparency and accountability undermined the credibility of state institutions.
Mr Braimah maintained that the lessons from the Akufo-Addo era should guide future governments, particularly in ensuring that anti-corruption pledges are backed with decisive action.
He noted that the credibility of Ghana’s democracy depends on the ability of leaders to govern with integrity and prioritise the needs of citizens.
