Angry youth of Koforidua Zongo community in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern Region have gone to a Koforidua High court to stop the mounting of a communication mast in their area.

The youth protested last week but it seems their protest have not yielded the desired results.

They claim the site which has been cleared for the mast was earmarked for a school project and wondered the reason for the change in plan.

They decided to go to court when the series of mass protests which began in November this year appeared to have fallen on deaf ears.

Addressing a news conference, spokesperson of the angry youth, Khidir Mohammed explained that the youth are not in conflict with either the state or the elders of Zongo community but wants to promote educational development in the area.

He denied the claims that their protests are part of plans to make government unpopular.

"They said we are anti-government and they said they have called us on several occasions which i am saying is a blatant lie.

"What we wanted to do is to tell the world what is happening. We are law abiding and we want the law to take its course.

"It is the era of democratic dispensation. We have taken our case to the court. The court will decide. If we are right , fine. If they are wrong then the necessary thing they need to do will be done," he said.
