An alternative route has been created on the Bogoso-Bawdie stretch in the Western Region to aid the movement of stranded vehicles.
The initiative follows the explosion that occurred at Apeatse located between the two aforementioned towns.
The Ministry of Information made this known in a Thursday press statement in response to the blast that led to the death of many in Apeatse.
Reports reaching JoyNews, reveal that 17 people have been confirmed dead with 59 others sustaining several degrees of injury.
The incident which occurred on Thursday afternoon was due to an accident involving a truck conveying explosives for a mining company, and a motorcycle.
According to the Police Service, the emergency workers, including the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the National Ambulance Service, are ensuring all affected residents are rescued.
Meanwhile, government has indicated that some efforts to get stranded community members shelter and other basic necessities in the days ahead have been set in motion.
