Apple Music in the month of March is celebrating Ghana's Independence Day with Trotro Vibes.
This campaign is to honour Ghana's bustling new wave of artists and the impact they have on a global scale.
In a message on Apple Music, the streaming giant noted that Ghana and its people continue to influence culture and music across the continent and around the world.
In view of this, the campaign “Trotro Vibes celebrates Ghana's Independence Day and highlights the sounds of Ghana today, both classic and contemporary--from traditional styles like highlife and hiplife to Afrobeats and Asaaka drill scenes that cross borders and break boundaries.”
The campaign is named after the public transport system - made up of minibus "trotros"- that brings together Ghanaians from all walks of life and acts as a cultural circulatory system.
Apple Music users can dive into exclusive playlists curated by today's biggest Ghanaian stars - from Afrobeats singer-songwriters Amaarae and Gyakie, to emerging hip-hop heavyweights such as Yaw Tog and O'Kenneth, and more.
Every artiste's playlist has music that defines the country's culture and growth of the music industry. Amaarae pays homage to legendary artistes like Kiki Gyan, Rex Omar, Osibisa, Ambolley.
Black Sherif packs drill, hiplife, and hip-hop into his list while King Promise puts up a list of Ghanaian songs that have made airwaves.
There are many more artistes who have exclusive playlists on the streaming platform.
People can also access music videos, original interviews, and essential releases from the artists who propel the culture forward.
