Official sources at the Attorney General Department has hinted The Chronicle that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Abuakwa South, Mr. Atta Akyea, has been charged with "stealing and fraudulent breach of trust" in his alleged ¢2.3 billion scandal.
According to the official source, the Attorney-General's department has received the docket containing the facts of the Akim Abuakwa MP's alleged thievery, and would soon arraign him before court.
"Yes, the A-G has received the docket and is in the process of proffering advice on the issue. It is here," the source said.
He said, Mr. Atta Akyea's docket was submitted to the A-G somewhere last week by the Commercial Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service after having included its investigations on the said case.
Further checks at the Commercial Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service confirmed t Mr. Atta Akyea's docket had n sent to the A-G's department.
Management of J. Adom Limited in May this year, reported Akim Abuakwa South MP to Commercial Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Accra, for allegedly stealing GH¢231,080.00 belonging to the company, without knowledge of the directors.
The said amount is said to be a judgment debt, paid into the client's account, of which. Mr. Atta Akyea is the sole signatory.
