One of Ghana’s Hip Life gems, ASEM has once again showcased his lyrical and song writing abilities in his latest single, Dear John dedicated to the memory of the late President J.E.A Mills. The beautifully crafted song eulogized the late President with carefully chosen lyrics which talked about the traits that endeared the Prof Mills to all and sundry. According to ASEM in an interview with Joy FM’s, Jefferson Sackey, Dear John should not be confused with a cheer song although it sounds pleasing to the ears and has probably one of the nicest instrumentation seen in recent times. He said the late President Mills was a plain and simple man, so from the artistic point of view it was not difficult trying to create a tribute song around his character. ASEM said the motive behind the song was to celebrate the highs of the late President and the things that he did that defined his personality as Atta Mills. ASEM added that his choice in collaborating with Pat Thomas was to help the song break the generational barriers. Click on the audio above to listen to the single, Dear John
