Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been enstooled as the Afutupahene (Chief of advice) of the Jema Traditional Area in the Bono East Region.
The Chief of the Jema Traditional Area and Nkoranza Traditional Council, Nana Amponsah Gyan bestowed the honorary title to Dr Bawumia during his 2-day campaign tour of the Bono East Region.
"Because of his [Dr Bawumia] great counsel to President Akufo-Addo, the Traditional Council has decided to crown him Afutupahene Dr Mahamudu Bawumia."
Nana Amponsah Gyan commended the vice president for his contribution towards the development of the country.
"During the Covid-19 pandemic, the government provided free water and electricity. We thank the Vice President and we believe he would be able to take the mantle of leadership should the president be absent," he said.
Speaking to the Chiefs and townspeople of the community, Dr Bawumia thanked Nana Amponsah Gyan for the love and support shown him.
He further asked for the community's support and votes in the coming elections in order for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to continue the good works started in President Akufo-Addo's first administration.
Nana Amponsah Gyan urged the people of the community to support the party in the upcoming 2020 general election.
"It is time to honour the president and the vice president. I know if you help them, they shall also assist the community in return," he stated.
