Audio By Carbonatix
Former Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu has denied being one of the male voices behind the clandestine plot to oust the Inspector General of Police.
A week ago, a controversial audio leaked from a conversation between a supposed top police officer and some persons suspected to be affiliated to the governing New Patriotic Party to replace Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
Mr Naabu in an interview on Kumasi-based Oyereba FM, denied being present during the meeting that discussed the removal of the head of the police service, when the show host asked if his staff were the individuals who recorded the audio.
“I do not think so, and I do not know but they cannot do that. We do not have any recording here but my phone can record, why I should get the tape to record,” he said.
Again, responding to the allegations that he was the one who recorded the audio and leaked it, he said, “No, why should I do that, the people do not have sense. If they have sense, even some of my telephone calls were in the tape. Do you think that if I am recording, I will let my personal matter inside the tape?”
The NPP stalwart visited the radio station to complain about the whereabouts of his receptionist and his aide who he claims were picked up by the police over the IGP’s removal audios.

On the back of that, when asked why he plotted against the IGP, he said “Am I the one who appointed the IGP? Am I the government to appoint IGP for me to talk about his removal?”
He stressed that he had no hand in the plot, adding that those who were talking about the IGP should be taken to task and not him.
Mr Naabu whilst recounting the incident which led to the discussions on the plot, said the individuals were merely complaining about some things in the party which were going wrong because he was a senior member of the party.
Also, when the show host said there were claims that he recorded the audio because he was “IGP’s boy” he fumed and quizzed “Who is IGP for me to be his boy? Don’t get me angry. He cannot call me his father, he will call me Nana [grandfather] I don’t want to get angry."
Meanwhile, the former Northern Regional Chairman said he was ready to honour any invitation by parliament, adding that he was ready to tell the truth because he did not like to tell lies.
