Boxing crowd puller Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku was in his elements Tuesday as a brilliant comedian, jabbing his way out of politics with his witty pranks.
He had only a fortnight ago rescinded his vow to contest and win the 2012 parliamentary poll at Odododiodoo in central Accra as an independent candidate. And on Tuesday when he appeared on Radio Gold to support the bid of the man he calls his ‘godfather’, Nii Lante Vanderpuije, Banku drove home the point that he really is a man of many funny words.
Proving his depth as a ‘Bible scholar’, Banku replied incumbent MP for Odododiodoo, Nii Tackie Komme to go and read Romans ‘8 chapter 31’ after he the MP had quoted Psalm 20 verse 7 to support his re-election bid and to counter a confident outlook by his challenger, Nii Lante Vanderpuije .
“First and foremost before I say anything I want to say a quotation from the Bible, that is Psalm 20: 7….” Komme began his submission when asked how he saw the contest.
Psalm 20:7 reads “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God,” topping it up eventually with the statement “with God all things are possible.”
But Banku would not be outdone, shooting back immediately with his reply. “Me Nii Lante Vanderpuije is my father. I like the way the MP is saying, because he say Psalm 20 verse 7, I want to tell the MP that he open to the Bible now and read Roman 8 chapter 31. Eeh, (yes) Roman 8 chapter 31,” he said before proceeding to render the quote in Ga. “What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” is what the Bible says at “Romans 8 Chapter 31”, to which Banku exclaimed “Yea I want Tackie Komme (to) open the Bible now.”
“When the God are support you, nobody are killing you. By the grace of God Nii Lante will win the election in Odododiodoo,” he exclaimed.
Then he scooped up some more of his ripe-for-the-encyclopedia wisecracks, saying “too much of laughing killing disease,” (a lot of laughter keeps sickness away) he explained, adding “I want to tell Jonathan Tackie Komme, “a faint heart cannot call a fair lady,” to wit a man must be courageous to seduce a woman.
May be Banku should consider seriously his future as a comedian when he runs out of boxing steam, for he definitely will make a number of disciples.
